Gen IV USB Updates

If OTA/WiFi updates fail, or you need to update any old software, this page has instructions on how to run all software updates over USB.

INSTRUCTIONS TO RUN UPDATES:

These updates can be done in any order, and you do not have to run all of them.

Step One is to update the MCU

  1. Download the “GENIV_MCU.zip” file from the link above.
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file to your computer’s hard drive.
  3. Format a USB drive to be sure that it is empty, then open the folder titled “GENIV_MCU” and copy the file inside titled “RL7A.BIN” to the root of the USB.
  4. Take the USB to the truck, turn the truck on and allow the system to boot up.
  5. If inserted, remove all other USB devices.
  6. Once the unit is booted up, plug the USB drive directly into one of the USB inputs.
  7. Go to the “Settings” then to “SYSTEM” on the top right.
  8. Scroll down and open “Factory Settings,” then enter 1660 and press OK.
  9. Press the “Upgrade” button on the bottom left.
  10. Press the “MCU Upgrade” button.
  11. A status bar should show up showing the process of the update.
  12. Once the update finishes the screen will flash off and back on.

Step Two is to update the PLUG BOX

NOTE: The PLUGBOX update is Vehicle specific and NOT interchangeable!!

  1. Download the “GENIV_PlugBox.zip” file from the link above.
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file to your computer’s hard drive.
  3. Format a USB drive to be sure that it is empty, then open the folder titled “GENIV_PlugBox” and copy the file inside titled “keleoscanupdate.bin” and “simplecanupdate.bin” to the root of the USB. (If your download only has simplecanupdate, that is OK)
  4. Take the USB to the truck, turn the truck on and allow the system to boot up.
  5. If inserted, remove all other USB devices.
  6. Once the unit is booted up, plug the USB drive directly into one of the USB inputs.
  7. Go to the “Settings” then to “SYSTEM” on the top right.
  8. Scroll down and open “Factory Settings,” then enter 1660 and press OK.
  9. Press the “Upgrade” button on the bottom left.
  10. Press the “Simple Upgrade” button.
  11. A status bar should show up showing the process of the update.
  12. Once the update finishes the screen will flash off and back on.

Step Three is to update the APP

  1. Download the “GENIV_APP.zip” file from the link above.
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file to your computer’s hard drive.
  3. Format a USB drive to be sure that it is empty, then open the folder titled “GENIV_APP” and copy the one file inside titled “px6.zip” to the root of the USB. (If your update has more files inside, it is OK to copy all files)
  4. Take the USB to the truck, turn the truck on and allow the system to boot up.
  5. If inserted, remove all other USB devices.
  6. Once the unit is booted up, plug the USB drive directly into one of the USB inputs.
  7. The system should recognize the update file and pop up an alert asking if you want to run the update.
  8. Press yes and allow the update to run.
  9. Once the update is finished, you should see some text on screen to “Unplug the USB Disk.” Unplug the USB Flash Drive, and allow the system to reboot.
  10. Allow the system to reboot completely. If the radio does not auto restart, restart the truck.
