NOTE: ALL FIRMWARE UPDATES REQUIRE A FORMATTED USB STICK AND ACCESS TO A COMPUTER. IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITIES TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW, PLEASE SEE AN AUTHORIZED LINKSWELL DEALER.
ALL UPDATES ARE DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND REQUIRE THAT YOU UNPLUG ALL ACCESSORIES CURRENTLY PLUGGED INTO ALL USB JACKS, INCLUDING THE WHITE CARPLAY DONGLE & DVR CAMERA. IF THE DVR CAMERA USB CONNECTION IS NOT ACCESSIBLE, IT HAS A CONNECTOR IN THE CABLE THAT CAN BE UNPLUGGED.
ALL UPDATES SHOULD BE DONE WITH KEY IN “IGNITION” POSITION OR WITH VEHICLE RUNNING.

To run the MCU Update

  1. Click the link and download the (GENIV_(vehicletype)_MCU_4... to your computer
  2. Plug a USB 2.0 drive (Preferably nothing larger than 16GB) into your computer and format it to FAT32
  3. Go to your computer downloads and locate the MCU.ZIP file you downloaded, unzip the file, open the folder and copy the file inside the folder titled “RL7A.bin” to the root of the USB (Be sure that you don’t copy the zipped file or the folder but only the .bin file to the USB)
  4. Once the file has been copied to the USB take the USB drive to the truck.
  5. Turn on the truck, allow the radio to boot up. Once the radio is booted up plug the USB into one of the radios USB inputs
  6. Go to settings, then select the “System Version” icon (will be the ! in a circle)
  7. Under the Software information is a button marked “MCU Update”, press that
  8. In the next menu page select the “MCU Update” button
  9. A status bar will show up to show the progress of the update. Once the status bar fills the radio may power off and back on. The update is now complete.

To run the PlugBox update

  1. Click the link and download the (GENIV_(vehicletype)_PlugBox_4... to your computer
  2. Plug a USB 2.0 drive (Preferably nothing larger than 16GB) into your computer and format it to FAT32
  3. Go to your computer downloads and locate the “GENIV_PlugBox.ZIP” file you downloaded, unzip the file, open the folder and copy the file/files inside the folder titled “keloscanupdate.bin, and simplecanupdate.bin” (Not all GEN 4’s will have both some may only have one of the file names in the folder) to the root of the USB (Be sure that you don’t copy the zipped file or the folder but only the .bin file to the USB)
  4. Once the file has been copied to the USB take the USB drive to the truck.
  5. Turn on the truck, allow the radio to boot up. Once the radio is booted up plug the USB into one of the radios USB inputs
  6. Go to settings, then select the “System Version” icon (will be the ! in a circle)
  7. Under the Software information is a button marked “MCU Update”, press that
  8. In the next menu page select the “Simple Upgrade” button
  9. A status bar will show up to show the progress of the update. Once the status bar fills the radio may power off and back on. The update is now complete.

To run the APP update

  1. Click the link and download the (GENIV_(vehicletype)_APP_4... to your computer
  2. Plug a USB 2.0 drive (Preferably nothing larger than 16GB) into your computer and format it to FAT32
  3. Go to your computer downloads and locate the “GENIV_APP.ZIP” file you downloaded, unzip the file, open the folder and copy all the files inside the folder titled “bootlogo, factorySet, mainlogo, px6.zip, and touchkeycfg” to the root of the USB (Be sure that you don’t copy the zipped file or the folder but only the 5 files listed above to the USB)
  4. Once the files have been copied to the USB take the USB drive to the truck.
  5. Turn on the truck, allow the radio to boot up. Once the radio is booted up plug the USB into one of the radios USB inputs
  6. The system within 45 seconds should recognize the update and pop up a window asking if you would like to run the update. Select yes.
  7. Follow the prompts on the screen to finish the update process.
